The Best Spots For Skiing And Snowboarding In Arizona

Most people don’t think of skiing and snowboarding in Arizona, but the Grand Canyon State offers plenty of options for fans of winter sports.

Arizona Snowbowl Ski Resort

Snowbowl is one of the oldest, continually operated ski areas in the United States. Located in the San Francisco Peaks of northern Arizona, just 14 miles from Flagstaff, the ski area offers over 32 runs and four chair lifts. The season begins in mid-December and lasts through mid-April. Beginner, intermediate and advanced runs are available. Sunset Terrain Park at Snowbowl features obstacles, spines, rails and fun boxes for snowboarders and skiers seeking fun challenges. Arizona Nordic Village in Flagstaff offers trails perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoe adventures.

Sunrise Ski Resort

Arizona's White Mountains are home to Sunrise Ski Resort, consisting of three mountains and 65 ski runs. Located in Greer, an hour east of Phoenix, there is plenty of fun for everyone. Snowboarders have their own freestyle terrain park and cross country ski trails are also available. The new quad chairlift has the capacity to move 16,000 skiers per hour.

Summer-time activities include horseback riding, mountain biking, and disc golf – plus fishing and boating in nearby Sunrise Lake. Central Arizona offers plenty of recreational fun for everyone. Located near Pinetop and Show Low, the skiing at Sunrise Ski Resort is second to none.
