Visiting Memphis
It’s the largest city in Tennessee and a haven for tourists. Memphis is most well-known as the birthplace of Gospel, Rock’n’Roll, and Blues music and you’ll find a wealth of music venues and museums that provide insights on music history of this region.
Many visitors come to Memphis just to take a tour of Graceland, Elvis Presley’s mansion that is now a museum. You can even visit Sun Studio where Elvis made his first recording. Make your way to downtown Memphis to explore Beale Street, a popular tourist area that’s home to several boutique shops, blues clubs, and great restaurants. It is just under two miles long and is where you can catch the Beale Street Music Festival throughout the month of May.
One of the best ways to take in all that Memphis has to offer is by hopping aboard the Memphis Trolley. The trolleys run on three lines in the downtown area and will take you through the historic districts and along the riverfront. You can visit museums, theaters, and restaurants across the city without worrying about parking and directions.
Sports enthusiasts can catch the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies playing at FedEx Forum. Don't miss the NASCAR racing events at Memphis Motorsports Park.
Enjoy the great outdoors or just explore some historic Civil War sites at Fort Pillow State Historic Park. The park overlooks the Mississippi River and is also home to a museum that covers the 1848 Battle of Fort Pillow. The park is a designated Wildlife Observation Area and you’ll find plenty of picnicking spots and a playground at the park to enjoy with friends and family.
