Discover South of Boston, From Plymouth Rock to the South Shore

The diverse South of Boston area consists of two main counties, Bristol on the southwestern side, and Plymouth to the east coast. Within Plymouth lives the South Shore, lying along the Atlantic Coast from just south of Boston, down to the Cape Cod border.

Offering more American history, famed beaches, and amazing whale watching sites, which inspired Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, come visit the South of Boson region. Go back in time to 1627, and live like a pilgrim at Plimoth Plantation, and check out real places where Native Americans and Pilgrims broke bread. Hop aboard the Mayflower II, an exact replica of the ship that they sailed on.

South of Boston is also home to the stadium of which the beloved NFL’s New England Patriots take the field. Gillette Stadium in Foxboro can get pretty lively on game days so make sure you wear some navy, red and white.

If travelling with the family, there’s no better way to spend the day then at the Buttonwood Park Zoo, the oldest in Massachusetts. If the great outdoors is calling your name, head to Nantasket Beach. This popular summer destination spans over a mile of ocean shoreline and boasts a carousel and band shell for summer concerts.
