Visiting Cajun Country

Winter doesn’t mean quite the same thing in Cajun Country as it does in much of the rest of the country – but that’s not to say the landscape isn’t a wonderland. This season, mild weather means fun outdoors never stops and communities from Abbeville to Eunice to Galliano invite visitors to join them in celebrating the season, hosting a variety of special events, festivals, and family-friendly activities.

Beautiful weather means golfers can tee off all season long, and Cajun Country is home to countless first-rate golf courses. Golfers visiting Vinton and Lake Charles aren’t far from Frasch Park Golf Course in Sulphur. To the east, players in Lafayette can get a round in at the Wetlands Golf Course.

Of course, New Orleans is best known for its epic annual Mardi Gras celebration, but Fat Tuesday fun can be found all over the state in early February. Take the Krewe of Amani Mardi Gras Parade in Patterson, for instance. Franklin visitors are just minutes away from the procession, which traverses downtown Patterson beginning at 2 p.m.
