If you have chosen to stay at the luxusious Hotel de Sers, its prime location in the golden triangle means you are ideally placed to make the most of every precious minute. And with just 48 hours to be seduced by Paris, wake up early to enjoy a healthy breakfast on the trerrace...

Leaving the Hotel de Sers, stroll up the Champs-Elysées to the place Charles de Gaulle Étoile and Napoléon’s monumental memorial, the Arc de Triomphe. Marvel at the view of the radiating Grands Boulevards, before hopping in a taxi to Trocadéro for a shot of expresso.

Cross to the massive Palais de Chaillot overlooking the Champ de Mars and walk down to the Tour Eiffel. Climb, or take the elevator, for great views over the whole of Paris. Take a Batobus up the Seine to the Musée d’Orsay and see every Impressionist you have ever heard of, then lunch at Les Deux Magots or Café de Flore, on the Boulevard St. Germain, for a spot of people-watching. Trawl the bookstalls of the Rive Gauche, cross the river to Île de la Cité and Notre Dame, and the exquisite 13th-century Sainte-Chapelle, with lovely stained glass and a starry-starry vaulted ceiling. Stop for a Berthillon ice cream in the peaceful garden of Île St. Louis.

Dine at Le Train Bleu, Gare du Nord or on board a Bateau Mouche, disembarking at Alma Marceau for some outre entertainment at the Lido or the wildly kitsch Crazy Horse on Avenue Georges V.

Try Café Marly for breakfast, overlooking I.M. Pei’s iconic glass pyramid in the Louvre courtyard. Spend at least an hour gazing at old masters then move on to funky 60s Centre Georges Pompidou. Take escalators to the most futuristic toilets in Paris and a drink at the rooftop bar.

Next, head for the boutiques and cobbles of the Marais, the pavement cafés of Place Bastille, and lunch in near-perfect Place des Vosges. Or make tracks to Galeries Lafayette for some retail therapy, followed by a stroll through pretty, manicured Parc Monceau.

Later, set out for a romantic evening in Montmartre, its lovely white-domed Basilica even more beautiful at night. Find a little restaurant on the lively Rue des Trois-Frères, catch a show at the legendary Moulin Rouge, and drop in for a nightcap at glamorous Buddha Bar. 48 hours may not be quite enough...
