1. Great location 2. Wonderful staff, always going the extra mile for you 3. As clean as can be 4. Room is just big enough for a couple with a couple of suitcases 5. Yes: the window faces a wall.. You'd better check the weather on the 40 inch tv 6. Free wifi is a bliss 7. Free lounge with coffee, tea, chilled water 24-7 If you're coming to new york to walk like a sherpa and crash - this is the best choice I've ever had: reaaaaaly good Will definitely come back to The Moderne!!

Second time for me - still great

posted May 16, 2012

This was the second time I had stayed at this hotel in the last 7 months. Very clean, very central and as before Teddy and Victoria the front of house staff were polite, helpful, knowledgeable and fun. I would definitely go back there. The rest of the staff at the hotel are also very helpful and the free tea and coffee together with breakfast cake in the morning are a nice touch. The rooms are nicely decorated and of a very decent size. It really is very near to everything in New York. If there is anything you need to know whilst there, they can either find out for you or provide it. I would strongly recommend this hotel.

A fabulous experience

This was our first trip to New York so not sure what to expect, this was not the usual type of hotel we stay in but we were really pleased we decided to choose the Moderne. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. It is only a five minute walk from Central Park and only a bit further to Times Square, just don't expect good views from your window. The decor is fabulous and of a very high standard. Although there is no restaurant you get plenty of places to eat just a stones throw from the front door, so getting food is no problem. They do have a nice lounge on the second floor where you get complimentary fresh fruit and hot drinks available 24 hours a day. Between 7 and 10.00am they also provide complimentary cake. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation, it is so central and convenient for all attractions

Good Midtown Hotel, But Small Small

posted May 6, 2012

The Moderne is a decent hotel in midtown Manhattan, near Columbus Circle. It's convenient to everything in the city, you can walk to the theatres, museums, and Central Park, and it's close to key subway lines. Rooms are modern but very very small. That's to be expected in a midtown hotel, but be prepared. The rooms are recently refurbished, and the designers did a nice job with the small spaces, so the furniture is convenient and works well, but you will find yourself tripping over your bags a bit. The hotel does not offer breakfast, but the staff is courteous, helpful, and very professional. And of course there are many restaurants and diners nearby, so it's not a problem to find food. My room did not have any sort of view, just a tiny window that looked out on a brick wall, I had to go down to the lobby to find out the weather. Also, for newcomers to New York, be aware that the various hotel taxes add up to an astounding $50 per night, so when the hotel advertises $300 rooms, you'll be paying quite a bit more. New York hotels can bust your budget, but this is a good compromise: a nice affordable hotel in a good location.

Unique Hotel in Great Location

posted May 4, 2012

We stayed in this hotel July, 2011. It was the hotel priceline settled on. We were not disappointed, although we had some initial issues that were only of our own making. We weren't sure a smaller boutique hotel was for us. Boy were we supprised! We were treated royally and this hotel made feel we had our own Mahattan apartment. The common room on the second floor always had great refreshments all day and night. We met many fellow guests there and got to know them a little. That doesn't happen in the larger hotels. All the staff couldn't do enough for us and were very helpful. We got on the Regis and Kelly show and it was a blast. All in all a great expereience and I would recommend this hotel for a very different experience in NYC.
