We liked very much the hotel, the front desk warm welcome, the location and the spectacular view from our corner room ! The only downside came from the noise of the air conditioning system. Otherwise a very good ratio price / quality / confort / location.

After a bit of a mix up on the room booking, The Bentley upgraded us to a one bedroom suite to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. The hotel was very nice and close to Central Park and the subway to get downtown is only a few blocks away. The location was ideal for getting away from the busy part of New York after a full day of seeing the sights and sounds. It's a lovely walk from the subway down quiet charming residential streets. We missed out on trying the rooftop restaurant-just ran out of time! Would recommend if you'd like to be just out of the hectic parts of New York City. Easy subway, only 10 minute walk.

We recently traveled to new york with some friends who were attending a convention. Upon arrival, I immediately learned of an issue in regards to my reservation. The hotel was not responsible for the mistake. Rather, it was a communication issue between my friends and myself. What transpired after the issue came to light was a great reflection on the customer service of this property. The front desk agent, Alex could have told me my options "matter-of-factly" and moved on. However, she listened to what I had to say and began to offer suggestions and other options. She then took it a step further and got her manager, involved. The manager was also incredibly helpful. Without getting into the details, the manager was literally running around to make things work. With the help of Alex and the manager, I was able to get a resolution that was very close to what I had wanted in the beginning. Needless to say, I was very pleased. While I didn't interact with many other employees during my stay, when I did, it was always a good experience. As for the other details of this property...the location was great for us. There were many, many dining options within walking distance. We ate at the Italian restaurant on 3er avenue very clouse to the hotel on one evening. Shopping is also very close. You can find Bloomindales just a few blocks away. Another thing nearby is the subway and the bus. Our walk was onlythree short blocks to a station, which made it very convenient to get to/from the Cubs game that we attended. The property itself appeared to be very well maintained. We were very satisfied with our rooms. The entire suite, 1508 including the bathroom, was VERY CLEAN. About the only thing negative with the room was the remote controls for the televisions. They appear to be very worn, requiring a lot of work to push on and off. Of course, I can't forget to mention the daily manager's reception! This hotel does a great job with the snacks/food in the room. They changed it up from day to day, which was really nice. The bar ran out of Bud Light (draft) near the end of the first day's reception. On the next day, they actually offered a variety of bottled beers since they had not be able to replenish the Bug Light keg. Again, it appears they have a policy to go above and beyond to take care of their customers. All told, I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It's ideally located, offers clean rooms, and provides great customer service.

We chose Bentley mainly because it’s just 7 blocks from the Central Park allowing a reasonable access to do morning jogs there at a more affordable price than hotels right south of the park. Also, traveler pictures from room windows with the gorgeous bridge view were impressive. We, however, had a view of the opposing building from the 2nd floor, which was quite disappointing. It might be a good idea to specify which view the room has at the booking stage as it differs that much. We appreciated their good, firm beds, but every other aspect of Bentley is definitely not four star which they claim to be. First, their staff consists of naturally friendly individuals, but they haven’t been trained to provide the New York level of service – which admittedly is high. I’ll give a couple of examples. When we wanted to inform of dinner and Sunday brunch places, they didn’t really seem to have an idea of what to recommend to you. The places mentioned were close, yes, but quite disappointing in terms of quality or style. Once we were even given an address for a restaurant which simply wasn’t there. Another example would be the key card that expires, apparently, after five nights for security reasons. We were never informed of this although it would have been just a routine thing to do when you check in for more than five nights. We had even stopped at the front desk on the expiration day, but had to get all the way to our door to realise our key card didn’t work, get worried, and then get back to the front desk again to solve it. Second, the front desk does get quite a central role as they don’t offer a free internet access (Hello: it’s 2012 – it’s not a valid option any more to charge for the internet access!) and you rely on the information from them a lot. Third, the bathroom has some serious shortcomings. The shower in our bathroom (and in the neighbor’s bathroom as well…) made dreadfully loud noise. Additionally, it needed to be ran very hard in order to get any warm water, which felt very uncomfortable on your skin. There is no ventilation in the bathroom either, so every shower steamed the entire room. Fourth, breakfast is not included. There is a tiny coffee shop in the lobby, but they only sell that watered American coffee, you can’t get your morning latte or cappuccino there. Fifth, you wait for the elevators for ever. There are more of them, so the software must be working less than optimally to cause such waiting times. So, the overall guest experience at Bentley gets, in my view, short in too many aspects. It may be a bit cheaper than other 4 star hotels, but you also get a lesser experience. This difference gets especially emphasised in New York where they really know how to serve you well practically everywhere. For all the more reason they should fix the service, internet and bathrooms at Bentley asap. Before they do – I recommend choosing a better option.

There is no better rooftop bar and experience in New York City. I took clients here for a night out, and each one of them couldn't stop talking about the magnificent view, the private seating areas, and the atmosphere. The plan now is to take all of our clients here, and enjoy the amazing summer in NYC. Cannot recommend it enough even for people who live in New York City. As an aside, the chicken fingers were some of the crispiest and delicious little slices of heaven I have had in a long time.
