Budget-friendly, clean, spacious

I stayed in a room at the Grand Lake Resort with my husband recently (late April) just for a weekend, and I fell in love with this hotel. We were slightly skeptical before booking, as there were very few reviews and they didn't really say much about the quality of the hotels or the rooms. But we were on a budget, so we decided to try it. I'd say it was definitely a great decision- definitely a a highly underrated hotel. The staff was friendly upon our arrival and checked us in promptly. The room we stayed in was spacious, with a living/dining room, kitchen (did not include pots/pans to cook, but did include plates and silverware), large bathroom (with both a bathtub and a shower), and a bedroom that also connected to a screened-in patio. The bed was comfortable, but the only gripe I've got is that some of the pillows were a bit dirty. Minor issue, we just avoided using those pillows. With the exception of a few pillows, everything was very clean - a definite plus. The room faced a beautiful lake, and the grounds are very well kept. A very quiet area, definitely a refreshing change from the Disney Resorts, where there's a lot of hype going on (what with the kids, gift shops, etc). Wonderful location, plenty of places to eat and shop around the area. Also very close to the Walt Disney World parks - we went to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. Each trip was 15 minutes or less of a drive - with traffic. We'll definitely be staying here again!

Don't stay there!!!

Don't stay there!!!! Very out dated units, no laundry in the unit, had to go out of the unit. Beds in the second bedroom were twin and like water beds, don't move around in them because they may come off the so called box spring. Wouldn't reccomend it to my worst enemy!!!

Clean resort but don't get involved in their conn.

The resort was nice and clean but in order to get your car tag you have to meet with salesperson in their lobby. He proceeds to scam you into going to breakfast and touring a condo and giving feedback. You have to put down a $20 deposit and in return for your cooperation you will receive a visa gift card. It was the most horrible experience I have ever been through. We told the people upfront as well as the salesperson in the resort lobby that we had to meet family at a certain time at Sea World. We ate a quick breakfast with a salesperson and proceeded to go tour a few condos. The salesperson drove us in her car so we did not have a way out. After touring the condos I told the salesperson that we were not interested in buying any and she told us that we were staying in a dump and that we needed to buy a condo so our family could have a nice place to stay while on vacation. She would not take NO for an answer after a couple of hours of us saying no and her going on and on. We had to stand up and walk out. We did not know where we were and had to walk and find our car. We did not receive our $20 deposit back and we did not get the visa gift card even though we were there for hours. The resort did not even try to make it right. They told me when I was checking out that I should get my $20 back and a letter of apology, that was in March 2012 I waited until now to see if they would respond. As of this date I have received nothing from the Resort.

Quiet Place

The units maybe a bit on the small size but the personal service you receive here is great. The gals on the front desk are super frendly and try to solve all your little problems. The grounds are well kept and is a very quiet resort. Will be sure to return here again.

VERY RELAXING

We booked a week (sight unseen) and were very happy with the Grand Lake Resort. The unit was spotless, the staff made you feel like family and they were very friendly and helpful, The pool was very clean and there were paddle boats & a canoe for the use of the guest. Several days a week the staff served sundaes or ice cream floats. The grounds were well kept and there was a pier that led to the lake. We enjoyed the sandy beach that was right on the lake. There was an over sized hammock that was a real treat. We will be visiting again next year, The location is perfect and close to Disney and every restaurant imaginable. It deserves 5 stars.
