Just returned from a 10 day trip to Russia. Stayed three nights in the wonderful Hotel Angleterre in St. Petersburg. Everything about this hotel was pleasing from its perfect, central location to the very helpful, friendly staff like Evegenia at the Front Desk, to the lovely, comfortable hotel rooms with the great views. We had a room directly facing on St. Isaac's magnificent church and the Square. The decor in the Lobby was inviting as was that of the restaurant, with a portion of tables situated along large windows just off the lobby overlooking the Square, which was a perfect place to unwind with drinks or snacks as well. There was a slightly modern vibe, but old world charm in the decor which permeated throughout the hotel. Our room rate also included an abundant buffet breakfast in the restaurant each morning. Had visited the higher rated Hotel Astoria next door for tea two years ago but upon our return this year thought the new decor at the Astoria was too stripped down and lacked its former sumptous charm and that of the Hotel Angleterre. Would recommend the Hotel Angleterre as being a perfect place to stay in St. Petersburg.

I've travelled to St. Pete many times and stayed in the W, the Renaissance, the Astoria, the Grand Hotel Evropa, but the Angleterre is better, and is less expensive to boot. It has the same location as the Astoria, W, the Renaissance, which is a better location than Grand Hotel Evropa for the cultural sights. The staff are warm and charming; the breakfast buffet is spectacular; the public spaces are right now much nicer than the better known, more expensive Astoria next door, and the overall atmosphere and amenities are comfortable and classic. You feel that you are in historic St. Petersburg. It is old, not new, which I like. It is within close walking distance of all the great sights.

Angleterre is an enchanting place with high class service professionals working there. 24/7 all visitors are welcome to address reception: thanks to Andrey, Ekaterina, Lidiya for their help with hotel card, business centre (print out) facilities, taxi booking. Breakfast is delicious, great way to start your day. The rooms will not disappoint you, 6 pillows per 1 person is more than enough:) After long day of work or travelling you can either have a dinner (sometimes musicians, artists perform in the evening) or a hot bath. Everything is almost perfect... Thanks, Angleterre!

I stayed there for two nights. Excellent location. 2 minutes from Admiralteyskaya metro station and in 5 minutes from Dvortsovaya square. Very easy to get to any district. Nice view. Good meal. Very friendly atmosphere. Staff is very helpful.
