AWFUL, TATTY, POOR SERVICE!!!

posted May 23, 2012

So disappointed with this place after coming home yesterday!! Horrible, drab, tatty rooms. Poor air conditioning which was reported twice and nothing was done about it during our 5 day holiday. hair dryer in bathroom was useless and burned your hands when you used it. Bathroom is very old with cracked tiles, smelly drains and no shower cubicle. We complained about the horrid room on arrival and were told we booked a standard room and that was a standard room! I expect when I book and pay the resulting cost of booking a five star property that the standard accomodation will be acceptable for a short trip!! In the Tivoli this is not the case!! It is a disgrace and one I would not recommend to others. We did like the pool area and the restaurant for breakfast but this is the only positive part of our experience I could report!

Breakfast at Tivoli's

Booked a deluxe double room for 10 days in May. On arrival we were designated a twin room but soon got that changed. I found the staff very friendly and obliging and the hotel exceptionally clean with many staff cleaning both inside and out. The grounds were in very good order as was the beach area. Right on the edge of the Marina it is extremely handy for access to restaurants and bars. The breakfast is varied and more than enough choice for anyone (not too fussed on the sausages though) although there were no poached eggs available. Saying that you could have poached a couple in the waters of the marina by the time it took the toaster to do the bread. I would highly recommend joining the GHA (Global Hotel Alliance) as this gives you free Internet access and a newspaper. The golf concierge is very helpful and obliging although I only had one round you do get a discount booking through the hotel and the free shuttle is a bonus.

Just returned from a weeks stay at the Tivoli Marina - from the moment we arrived to the day we left - we could not fault the staff or Hotel. Our room (608) overlooked the Marina - what a view - if you would prefer to hear the sea at night then the rooms on the other side of the Hotel are for you! There are many restaurants around the Marina to chose from and we never had a bad meal - our favourite fish restaurant is called Buzios which is actually on the beach - I can only describe the meal as the best we had, and we had a number!! The Hotel is run very efficiently - the bedroom (de luxe re furbished) room was very clean and the beds and pillows superb. The only criticism I have, the little blankets lying across the foot of the bed - they spoil the look of the otherwise nice bedroom. Having said that it was very cold on the first night we arrived and maybe these are not normally on the bed. Peppers restaurant in the Hotel was good, steak excellent. The lunch time snacks at the poolside bar also first class. Breakfast very well organised. We had a later flight home and were allowed to keep our room for the day which was such a bonus as Faro airport that evening was a nightmare. What more do you need. Highly recommend. A very nice touch - My husband and I were celebrating our birthdays while there (7th and 9th) and we each had a cake and a bottle of champagne compliments of the Hotel. !!

Fabulous

Just enjoyed a second stay at the Tivoli Marina and have had a superb break with my sisters, just what we all needed. The staff are all so helpful and polite, and we all felt thoroughly spoilt and relaxed by the end of the week. Will be booking for our third stay here next year and we all agree that we do not want to look anywhere else. The rooms are a little dated but for the prices we paid very good value and perfectly adequate for what we needed. The beds were comfortable and we all slept very well even though there was some noise in the evening from the bars alongside the marina The location is superb, just off the marina with plenty of places to eat in the evening. The weather was lovely for early May and the outside areas were clean and well cared for. We loved it!

Great location.

We arrived off an early flight many hours ahead of the official check-in time, this was not a problem as our room was ready. Reception was not busy and when all the formalities were completed the receptionist came and showed us where all the facilities were located ( a nice touch). Our room was on the 2nd floor with sea view, it was satisfactory if a bit tired. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of drawers and hanging space and an excellent T.V. The bathroom was good with an excellent shower and basic toiletries, bath robes and slippers, also a frosted glass sliding partition which didn't serve any useful purpose. There was a coffee maker and coffee capsules €2, our machine was erratic, you could use it to heat water for tea bags or instant coffee but it didn't heat the water very well. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a great selection of fruit, drinks, hot and cold food and fresh tea and coffee served at the table. If you are half board there is a three course dinner menu with a good selection of starters/main course/desserts, the menu changes during the week. The pool area has plenty of beds and umbrellas, there was never any pressure on beds. The Menta restaurant at the pool does very good snacks and lunches. Free broadband internet access was available in reception. All the staff were a pleasure to deal with, good humoured and helpful. This is a 5 star hotel so you can expect drink prices to be expensive, all bars have drink menus with prices listed, we paid €7 each for 2 Tia Marias. The weather was disappointing during our stay but the location of the hotel with the beach on one side and marina on the other provided enough variety to keep us entertained.
