unbelievable that a hotel at this price has the hide to want to charge 22€ per day for access to internet. The wifi is hopeless in the lobby. What is it with hotels that dont provide free wifi in your room yet do they charge for writing paper ans pens in the room? Free wifi these days is just a given terrible hotel for comms for business.

Great hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed for one night in May 2012. Having arrived early Saturday morning on the ferry from Hull, we were warmly welcomed by the reception staff and although they were not able to check us in so early they agreed to call us as soon as our rooms became available which they did around lunch time. The room and the bathroom was lovely, definitely a 5* experience. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel staff were helpful. Breakfast was included for the £100 per night price and was a buffet offering lots of variety and was high quality, although we struggled to get a cup of tea or coffee promptly (due to where we were seated, in an alcove by the window). Good location for exploring the city, opposite the tram stops and the centraal train and subway station. Main shopping area and a busy street with all the bars on was maybe only a ten minute stroll away in any event. The only negative was the mini bar prices, at 5 euros 50 for a bottle of coke we didn't bother.

There was a very warm and helpful welcome awaiting us on our arrival in Rotterdam. The rooms were available early, a great help after an over-night ferry crossing, and huge, with fresh flowers, tea, coffee, biscuits and even bathroom slippers and dressing gowns to use. Breakfast was good, although I didn't sample the hot food as there was an excellent choice of fruit, meats and cheeses accompanied by various breads and pastries. The downside for me was the amount of contruction work ongoing around the hotel, it was and is like living in a building site at the moment. The closeness of the tram system and the severe bends the trams have to execute meant that you could hear them running at all times of the day, late evening and early mornings. I would also have expected a 5* hotel of this calibre to offer free internet access, rather than trying to charge 22 Euros per day - especially when the cafe just down the strest offered free wi-fi!

The Manhattan is located across from the main train station in Rotterdam, so it is very convenient. Unfortunately, there is major construction occurring at and around the train station at this time, so it detracts from the hotel. The hotel amenities are excellent. The breakfast is good. The staff are helpful. The gym is well equipped.
