We stayed as a family (one child) in the junior suite, which is not that expensive, and enjoyed it very much. Room was spacious, bathroom too, staff was freindly, and their klemantines were delicious :-) Location is near subway and on a shopping street, we went by foot to the Colosseum and other locations, but there are other hotels in the center of town if you need to be in the mid of the tourists center. For us, though, it was great. Our 4YO loved the old-styled elevator (there are new ones too).

I frequently rely on Tripadvisor reviews for choosing a hotel, either for business or holiday. My experience has been that the standards of writers of Tripadvisor reviews are generally more demanding than my own; therefore, if a hotel has a majority of positive reviews, I am likely to be satisfied. When my business travel service booked this hotel, I checked the reviews on Tripadvisor and saw that they were uniformly good. I was, therefore, quite surprised when I entered my room to find that, while spacious, it was very sparsely furnished and with antique chairs that were simply not comfortable to spend any time in. In addition, there were no carpets on the floors and no slippers provided. The bathroom was big, but the fixtures and shower arrangements were old. The hair dryer was a very old model, with basically a tube attached to a wall. Although I had asked for a quiet room, this room was near the street. It was very noisy, and the only way that I was able to sleep was by using ear plugs. I kept wondering if I was in the same hotel as the one that the reviews had covered. Were some rooms in the hotel renovated, whereas I had received a room that was not? The service was also lacking. Someone from outside the hotel tried to call me in the evening, and there was no response at the front desk, despite the fact that the caller waited for several minutes. She finally called me on my cell phone. I also tried to call for room service, and there was no answer. I had inquired at the front desk if there was Wifi in the rooms. I was told that it was not working at the moment and that they had no idea when it would be. The only part of the hotel that did live up to expectations was the breakfast, which is a nice buffet and is served in a room with a porch with tables overlooking a lovely garden. Because I don't usually find myself so dissatisfied with a hotel when I travel for business that I would not stay there a second time, I asked a colleague who had flown in from Canada his opinion. His reaction was similar to mine; he will go somewhere else the next time. So, while this hotel may be good deal for people on holiday looking for a hotel with large rooms and great location, it is definitely not ideal for business travelers. It clearly does not merit four stars.

Has old world charm but very worn. Shower over extremely high bath. Water runs all over the floor from shower no matter how careful you are. Bathroom in general looks groty. . Floor boards loose and creak dreadfully with every footstep and also moves under foot. I have never met so many unhappy, rude staff as I have in this hotel. The noise from the outdated plumbing system is incredible . Management should have a good look at the reception staff they are unbelievable. Have been to a lot of hotels and this is the first time I have been driven to write a review.

Good location Great clean bathroom Large room It is Rome's five star of an older hotel but good value. Staff at desk ok, they answered questions but the language limits more interaction. The hotel lost electricity and we had to walk up seven flights of stairs and if you were disabled there would have been no help. We walked in and it was dark but no one offered any reason or suggestions.

Stayed two nights at this world class hotel. Fantastic large lobby with comfortable seating and a classic atmosphere with oil paintings, tapestries and high cielings. The bell boys were actually elderly gentlemen who took your luggage into the hotel from the taxi and if required stored it securely until your room was ready. We arrived at 1100 am and were told the room would not be ready until 100pm. Went for a short walk locally to absorb the atmosphere of this great city. I asked the concierge for a room with a balcony and garden view as I had read about this in previous reviews. Boy did we get a great room when they assigned us 446. Although at the back of the hotel, it was spacious, high cielings, lots of wall and cieling mouldings, antique furniture, flat screen tv, small fridge and a hugh bathroom. They even give you slippers with the bath robes. Opened the drapes and french doors lead out onto a hugh balcony or an actual patio, with a table, two chairs, potted plants, flowers growing on a vine along one wall and a great view overlooking the central garden. Freinds travelling with us also had a "superior" room but it was on the second floor, smaller and without a balcony, they did however overlook the garden. Two nights costs in excess of $700 however, rome is expensive and this was a five star hotel. Breakfast was provided in the dining room and you could sit inside or out in the garden. As the weather was cool in early May, we stayed indoors with great selection of breakfast itesm; bacon, hame, cold cuts, eggs, cereals, fruit, yogurt, buns, bread, cheese; you name it, they almost always had it. There is also a smalll bar for drinks and this is where you get your ice cubes for your room. This hotel is within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, the Spnish Steps and Forum. You can catch a #64 Bus for 1 Euro and travel to the Vatican. for a 4 Euro ticket you can travel all day on the buses and well worth the extra money.Lots of restaurants nearby and all the lobby staff speak English. There is also a small fitness room. Definitely would stay there again.
