Just come back from our first trip to the Alexander, it is the ONLY place we will be staying in Dublin from now on. We have a young son and cities are not the most child friendly of places, nor are top end hotels. The Alexander is the exception. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel very welcome, especially our younger guest who was treated like a little gentleman When we walked into our corner suite we all said "wow". It was huge, spotlessly clean, the bed had the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on and the sheets were just divine. Being a mum the food and the housekeeping are 2 of the most important things for me and the Alexander didnt disappoint. Breakfast is leisurely but indulgent ( hot chocolate and brioche for our son ). Dinner - dont miss it. The housekeeping was terrific, I never actually saw who did it but every day the room was gleaming with all our mess tidied away. I was so sad to leave and have to resume my cooking / cleaning responsibilities! My son says he isnt' staying anywhere else ( not that we would want to ). The manager (Declan) was a real gentleman. He went out of his way to answer my sons many questions and made him feel like a V.I.P. Happy child equals happy parents equals great holiday Can't wait to go back again

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights while touring Ireland on our honeymoon. We were originally booked in the Stephens green location and upon arrival we were told that they switched our hotel on us and we had to stay here. Initially we were very upset, however they upgraded us to a Suite, which was very spacious. The reception station staff was mixed – some very nice, others not friendly at all. The hotel is a bit dated and our room showed wear with broken tiles and a hole in the bathroom wall. The bed however was AMAZING – very comfortable!! The heating system worked great and the shower nice and hot – a big plus. I would not recommend the breakfast – all buffet style and just “OK” – go across the street to the several coffee shops instead. Upon leaving they did arrange a taxi to the airport for us for a fixed cost of 25 Euro – not bad. Would probably stay here again if the price was right.

Stayed at this hotel with my family for almost a week long stay after an extensive tour of Europe with relations. Facilities were reasonable, staff was cool but polite, in no way interested in warming up to customers to offer the added value experience that makes for memories of warm hospitality. A real disappointment was the booking of daytrip train tour, by Paddywagon Tours, to the west coast. This was switched to bus format at the last minute. The Tour operator was not pleasant and blamed the hotel for not communicating with us, the hotel staff was utterly impassive and disinterested - no effort made at customer relations nor at assisting us get even a courteous apology from the tour operator, let alone a partial refund. The hospitality industry is made up of more than delivering simply clean rooms and reasonable food, it is attitude, atmosphere and service that make up hospitality and on that scorecard the OCallaghan and Paddywagon Tours do not measure up.

Stayed here twice on business in October 11 and March 12, both trips were satisfactory. The rooms are a good size, beds large and comfortable. Some of the hallways and carpets look a little tired but the hotel is generally clean. The morning breakfast is as you would expect in a hotel like this; buffet style with satisfactory choice and quality. The best thing about this hotel is, in my opinion, the location - only a short walk from many of the attractions with some good local pubs and restaurants, but far enough away from being too central and noisy. Would probably stay here again if the price was right.

Stayed because my usual Davenport (sister hotel around the corner) was unavailable. Very comparable - good location, hotel a bit tired but clean, friendly staff.
