posted May 23, 2012

In fairness, the room is excellent but!!!!service is terrible!!every help you ask,you need to pay..and services are so expensive!!this is the only hotel that you need to pay for wifi!!in my country, even a NO STAR hotel, the wifi is free..the only staff that made my day during my stay there is their bartender Gunawan..keep up the good work..

Villa was in complete state of disrepair and filthy

posted May 22, 2012

Rented a villa between 10 of us. Found lots of cockroaches, droppings in fridge, holes in window frames, dirty bathrooms, kitchen work surface collapsing. If u are offered villa especially 16-01 check it first. We were charged 800 sing $ per night for the privilege.

Could have been cleaner

posted May 22, 2012

We had a group of 10 - 6 adults and 4 children ages 2-8 - and so booked a villa at the Bintan Lagoon Resort. The villa itself was beautiful, but could use some maintenance and updates in all 3 bathrooms and the kitchen. There were several window frames that had rotted out, the window in the kitchen was particularly bad and had several places where the wood had completely rotted from the glass. However, that was not the biggest problem. It appeared the villa had not been rented in some time, and the whole house needed a thorough cleaning that it did not get before we arrived. The sheets and towels were clean and fresh, but the floors had not been swept or mopped very well, especially under the furniture and under the beds, where we found several dead cockroaches, even AFTER we requested additional cleaning. We found some kind of fecal matter (insect? Gecko? Mouse?) inside the refrigerator, too. The villa's private pool was the best feature of the house, and got a lot of use the 2 1/2 days we were there. It was the best-maintained part of the villa. The rest of the resort is very nice, especially the kids pool area, where we spent an afternoon on the water-slides - the 4 kids, the moms, and this grandma. The food, however, is just mediocre for the prices charged. For these 3 families from Singapore, the best part of our holiday were the views and open spaces. Would we visit again? Yes, but only in a renovated and CLEANED villa. We expected more for our S$850 per night.

Great Golf courses, hotel overpriced

posted May 19, 2012

We spent a weekend at Bintan Lagoon to play golf and relax. We choose the VIP transfer which was great. No waiting at the Ferry terminal and straight to the resort and individual pick up on return. I was furious about the misleading booking of 24 hour in- room wifi. We received one password valid for 24 hours and for one person only. The second day we were requested to purchase another password for outrageous high fees. Otherwise service was friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and spacious but nothing outstanding. Breakfast is halal. We loved the golf courses and the service at the club house.

Lovely place for a short quiet get-away

posted May 14, 2012

Went there with a few gal pals for a 2D1N get-away. It was the perfect setting for a Girly beach holiday for tired young urbanistas trying to get away from everything and relax. Service was top-notch - you are greeted by literally every staff you meet at the resort. The beach was quiet. We pretty much shared the beach and pool with only 20 other people at any time. Give me this over the crazy crowds at Phuket. Room was great - newly renovated, modern and was certainly very clean. There was cable TV, and everything worked well. There are a decent range of facilities at the resort, though you shouldn't expect equipment to be well-maintained. We did a spot of kayaking and cycling, which were cheap. Bicycles were terribly maintained. Karaoke room was exorbitant, at SG$60 an hr. Food at the restaurants here were of a decent quality. Just don't expect to eat Indonesian food. There isn't any here. I liked the calm at this place to want to return. But just be prepared to pay 'Singapore', and not 'Indonesian' prices for things here. The quiet is worth it.
