We spent 4 days in Reykjavik last week, as a surprise birthday present, which included whale watching, the blue lagoon, waterfalls, geysers - all of which were stunningly memorable in their own way and the Gallery Restaurant, in the Holt Hotel in Reykjavik was another awesome experience to be relished. The decor was beautiful, with amazing, original paintings covering the walls. The ambience and lighting were conducive to a wonderful evening, together with sublime food served by an excellent maitre d' called Marco - we felt we were in heaven! Do not leave Reykjavik without eating in this wondrous place. Marco and his team are doing a first class job with prices that were not completely off the graph but reflected the quality and work the chef had put into the presentation of the food. We would love to go back there one day! Takk!

We stayed at Hotel Holt the first night of our stay in Iceland. It was very charming inside, though, as many people have commented, could use some updating in the room decor. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had breakfast here, but would recommend going elsewhere. It was expensive but not expansive. While it was a fairly quiet street, I was woken up in the wee hours by drunk singing outside. The location was great, though. Downtown is very accessible by foot. Overall, we had a great stay.

We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Holt. The rooms are of average size and standard. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we got a free upgrade for 2 of the 5 nights. The restaurant is superb, the bar lounge is very cozy. The location is within 3 minutes from the cathedral and 10 minutes on foot from the city centre. A bakery is almost next door and serves great croissants and coffee if you don't want to pay for breakfast. Everybody speaks English, German is also commonly spoken.

Got what I considered a very low price though off-season and was pleased with the hotel. I did perhaps expect the hotel to have a more upscale feel having heard rumors about the restaurant. Room was nice and clean, great bathroom with high water pressure (which is normal in ISL). Only real drawback was there was no internet service in the room and we had to walk over our suitcases for the 3 night stay. Restaurant was a bit pretentious, was absolutely fine but with more penguins with a water bottle in the room than guests I tend to feel a bit on display.

We stayed here for 5 nights in April. The hotel is a little old fashioned in the decor, with lots of dark wood in the reception area. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the centre, up a slight incline. Our room was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The rate didn't include breakfast, so I can't comment on how good it is, but there is a little bakery about a 2 minute walk from the hotel which was excellent! We booked several tours via the hotel, the staff were very knowledgeable, helpful and always had a smile. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Reykjavik.
