Greater experience if you upgrade to Club Floor

posted May 20, 2012

We just returned from 3 weeks in HK at the Harbour Plaza Metropolis. The staff was very nice and efficient, and the accommodations were nice - especially on the Club Floors! I read the review here that suggested we upgrade to the Club Floors, and it was great! The Club Lounge membership includes an incredible breakfast offering (including an omlette maker) every morning!, and there is a wonderful Happy Hour each evening from 6-8 including nice food and all the drinks you could want . The staff in the Lounge are especially helpful and attentive, and the view over Victoria Harbour from the terrace is not to be missed! When the nightly Light Show comes on, it is just glorious. Spend the extra money to enjoy this experience - you'll be glad you did. There is a shuttle to TST that runs every 20 minutes. The Hung Hom MTR station is just across the street, and it will take you to TST East. With a short walk, you will be in the heart of things and ready to take the Star Ferry over to Hong Kong Island.

Better than we expected for a Hotel in a busy city

After reading Trip Advisor reports on the net prior to leaving for HK, we were weary about the hotel we had chosen to stay in for 2 weeks. We had been upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite with our original booking. We were also concerned about the location. The Hotel is surrounded by overpasses and major roads. We did not have to worry. The hotel was fantastic. The staff were so nice and helpful and my special doorman always greeted me with a special smile and opened the doors for me. The breakfast buffet was awesome and ran from 6.30/10.30. The shuttle bus ran every 20 mins to Nathan Road, and depending on who was driving, either took 4 or 5 minutes to get there. The harbour view was priceless. We were on the 12 floor (only 2 x smoking floors in the hotel, so if you are a smoker, make sure you request a smoking floor). Our traveling companions were on the 17th. At night the view of the lights from Hong Kong Island were amazing. Only negative is the bed. Very hard. The air con worked well and in the suites, there is one in the bedroom and one in the lounge. Walking to Nathan Road is not a problem once you know how to get there (through the Colosium) and takes about 25 mins to Nathan Road. Would definitely stay there again if going back to HK.

Makes Hong Kong visit pleasant

posted May 18, 2012

It was a pleasant experience to stay here. Very close to Tsim Sha Tsui - a key area of Hong Kong – a place for shopping, watching symphony of lights, enjoying the harbour ferry ride. Hung Hom station is just at opposite side of the road. Most of the rooms have harbour view (either the main harbour or back side of it) irrespective of the room category you choose. So, it is good pastime to sit idle in the room and watch outside. The rooms are descent and clean. Only point is, those are quite narrow. The breakfast has wide variety of options. Overall, it was great experience staying here.
