Great business hotel and more...

posted May 14, 2012

I stayed at Atrium Hotel for a business trip for two nights. It was a great experience! We stayed at the apartments building which is about 3 minutes walk from the reception. Very large and clean rooms with all those little things you always need (iron, reading glasses). The bar is well equipped and you can meet friendly guests. Breakfast was superb! It's about 15 minutes drive to Mainz city center where you can have good time for shopping and nice good restaurants. We did not have the chance to eat at the hotel's restaurants, which according the reviews are very good.

Memorable experience

I stayed in an apartment for eight months several years ago and still look upon my time at The Atrium with fondness. The rooms were nicely appointed, the staff was pleasant and fluent in English. After a jog through local farmland it was a great treat to enjoy the pool and spa areas in the main hotel. While you do have to check your modesty (and clothes) before partaking in the sauna/spa area, I still rave about the "experience shower" which I hope is still a spa feature. The shower cycled through scents, sounds, water temperature, water pressure/differing jets, and lights for a full sensory experience.

Excellent hotel. Great restaurant.

I stayed 2 nights there for a business event. The place is just great. There is a great restaurant in the hotel and we had a wine tasting dinner organized - which was both informative and entertaining. The hotel is associated with Worldhotels.

A mixed bag really

The four of us stayed in the Atrium Hotel for two nights during our visit to Mainz and the Rhine in August 2011. We had one double room in the old wing and one in the new wing. My kids loved this hotel and it certainly had a first class buffet breakfast, one of the best we have ever had. The weather was hot during our stay but the air-conditioning in my old room did not seem to be functioning properly. The room was stuffy and airless. I reported this to reception before we went out for dinner but no improvement was possible. I spent an uncomfortable couple of nights as when I opened the windows for fresh air, it let in unwelcome frying smells from the kitchen vents, and smoke and noise from people smoking outside. Although it seems the hotel is located on the edge of a sleepy dormitory town there are a couple of good restaurants nearby, only a relatively short walk away. So had the air-conditioning been working I would have given it 4 stars (very good) but not being able to get a good night's sleep in a hotel is a rather fundamental flaw.

Another very nice stay.

I have stayed at The Atrium several times now on business and always find the staff very welcoming, food standard very good, very nice, helpful bar staff and clean, comfortable rooms. This stay was very comfortable as usual.
