Comfortable and quiet rooms. Lovely linen on the very comfy beds. Free wifi. Stylish public areas and helpful reception. Bathrooms are spacious and stylish. The hotel is handily located nr the U-Bahn and a park, and the fashionable bars and restaurants of Ruttenscheider are close by. A small collection of machines in one room hardly constitutes a gym. Its a shame because non of the hotels I know in Essen have a decent gym. Nevertheless, its common consent among my colleagues and from personal experience the Congress is the place to stay in Essen.

Very new, contemporary hotel with excellent business facilities. I was there to run a business course and the staff were incredibly helpful and curteous. Secured a large room / suite on the 6th floor; which was frankly fabulous ! Spacious, spotlessly clean, and full of nice simple touches. It's not a place full of character because of it's comtemporary design but is great for business meetings and wonderfully efficient. Seems very close to Dusseldforf airport too. there are a number of resonable restaurants within walking distance and a lovely park for running and ambling just behind the hotel

I have stayed in this hotel on and off over more than 1 year period. No doubt this is a very nice hotel with very comfortable rooms and facilities. It is regretable that it does not offer a customer loyalty scheme. Other hotels in Essen do so and this one does not. Also it is not prepared to offer corporate rates which I found odd. But I assume they get enought business from the exhibitions that they do not have to honour long term customers. Staff is very freindly and competent. The weakest link is the kitchen with unreliable and incosistent quality of food. I was served a almost cold filet steak with cold Bernaise. Not good enough. When I ordered a cheese platter to my room I asked for dark and rye bread but was given 6 rolls. Also the cheese was cut and put on the plate. When I turned some of the pieces around they were mouldy on the other side. That is unacceptable; and difficult when you are in your room and you cannot just ask the waiter to take this back to the kitchen. Too much hassle. It may sound like I am knitpicking but long waiting times for food, cold food and sometimes dubious ingredients as the end bits of courgettes which clearly should not be used as the vegetable side dish have occured on a regular basis. Nevertheless staff is fabulous!

If your going to visit the Essen fair, this is the hotel you want. It is literally just meters away from the east entrance to the fair. Besides this, the hotel is either new or has just been renovated. It is spotless and the room was beyond expectation. Stylish, comfortable and anything you needed, it had. The breakfast was perfect and eggs were made to order. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Because of the location and all the other aspects, I am not one to complain about the price. Highly recommended!

Nice rooms with a lot of space, very clean, convinient position near U-Bahn , Messe Essen and University Hospital. Relatively quiet place with a nice park on the back. Free internet is fast . Breackfast is Ok but could be better.
