Great value,

Stayed by myself for four nights. Excellent location with regards to shopping, attractions and public transit. The smoking lounge/bar was one of the deciding factors for me, as I am a cigar smoker, so I must say that the smell of smoke was more appetizing to me than off-putting, but I can see how some might dislike it. The room itself, non-smoking, did not smell of smoke at all. The only complaint I could possibly make about the room was the tiny, tiny little shower -- I literally could not bend over in the shower, and I banged my elbows several times trying to wash my back. Again, for the least expensive room, not a huge deal. I was fairly low-maintenance, but service was good whenever I needed anything

The Savoy is ideal for long-weekenders enjoying a city break. Everything seems to be just around the corner - Tiergarten, Zoo Berlin, Kurfürstendamm and KaDeWee - and the area is teeming with bars and restaurants. Built in 1929 the hotel boasst a long line of distinguished guests such as Maria Callas, Romy Schneider, Greta Garbo and the German writer Thomas Mann. Adjoining the lobby is the famous Times Bar with its walk-in humador stocked with Cuban cigars, the perfect place for a night-cap. The staff are very friendly and highly professional, and the rooms are comfortable, airy and quiet. We have visited the Savoy in winter (for the famous Christmas markets) and summer (the canal/river tour is a must) and have never been disappointed.

Nice place in quiet area!

switched room at the check in

I paid for superior double but was given comfort double at check in and then was refused the reimbursement when I complained in the morning and after I called the manager after returning home. I got vogue promise of a free night, but when I asked for confirmation email, I never received one. So, be careful and watch out for free downgrading with no reimbursement or apologies.
