Only stayed for 4 days but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Rooms lovely and clean, beds sooo comfy and staff very friendly. Only downside is that there is no kettle or tea-making facility in our room. Also the food is very expensive, breakfast imparticulary is overpriced. Overall the hotel was a very good choice.

First trip to Berlin so nothing with which to compare. The staff was über-friendly. The room was large for a European hotel. And the location was perfect for access to everything. Do NOT be afraid to use the public transportation and buy multiday pass. Only downside I see is only 30 minutes of free internet per 24 hr period, then pay. There are four free computers for everyone's use in the lobby.

Booked the Berlin Excelsior after a recommendation from my travel agent so I gave it a try. Nice design hotel. The rooms are a bit small but clean and got all you need for a short stay (not a long one). Good breakfast. Internet ( I am very picky on this matter) access is free only 30 minutes a day, afterwards you have to purchase it. It would have been nice to have it for free.... The hotel is located nearby the Berlin Zoo ( Zoologischer Garten ), nice if you have kids or want to take a relaxed walk in the park. The Zoologischer Garten railway station is next tothe Zoo thus making it convenient for commuting to other areas or in/out Berlin. Busses and Underground are also easily reachable. Taxi are cheap and they are a good alternative to get to an address fast.

The hotel is welll located on the commercial side of west Berlin. It has a nice minimalistic design, and seems to have been renovated recently. However, rooms are ridiculously small, and what is sold as a double room is actually a single room at best, with no space for more than one suitcase anywhere. Bathroom often flooded when taking simple showers. Air condition is struggling and not really cooling anything. This can become worse in warm days, because it is impossible to open the windows in any reasonable way. Internet is coming with high fees, which is quite a pain in a city where you can get it for free in many similar hotels. It has a good breakfast selection, but the dining room is always too full with little sitting space. The hotel seems to be popular wth groups. So receptionists are always busy, and the lobby full of people, suitcases and noise. The staff is also quite overwhelmed, and hence you can expect long waiting for attention most of the day. In the breakfast dinning room it is almost impossible to catch one of the staff running around. This also impacts level of cleanliness of table area and the floors. Finally, there are many other 3 and 4 star hotels in Berlin offering much better service, room quality and size, price... and free Internet. Stay here only if you have to.

Perhaps a bit out of the way. Near the Zoological train station at the end of the Tiergarten so not near most of the museums. They charge for internet. The breakfast is good.
