Simple really - this is the first place I call when looking to stay in Helsinki. Be warned, they get booked up very quickly.

Stayed here for two nights on business in November 2011, made to feel very welcome, room very nice and modern, no IPod dock though! Comfortable bed with all facilities, large bathroom with walk in shower. Pleasant stay and would recommend. Location very good within easy walking distance of the old town and harbour. No parking at hotel but parking meters on street and an underground public car park 200 yards away.

i arrived at the hotel after midnight and was only there for one night. however, was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who also provided me with a foc upgrade to the style room. i loved the decor - fresh, cool colours (all white, grey & black). the shower was perfect, the room cozy & the bed was so comfortable! breakfast was fresh and delicious -- the setting was like sitting in a kitchen/dining room in someone's really nice house. as i was out the next morning i can't comment on the location but for such a short stopover, it made staying away from home very bearable.

What I love about this hotel: - Location. Right in the city centre. Two min walk to/from harbour. - Rooms. Stunning, clean, comfy and big. Heated floors in bathrooms - the best on the cold day. - Service. Thank you for making our stay so pleasent to all the staff in Fabian Hotel. What I don't like: - Not sure... maybe the only thing that i couldn't make a cup of tea or coffee in my room. That's all. We will definitly stay there again.

The Fabian is located on a rather dull street opposite the Finnish Ministry of Defence, but within a short walk of Esplanaden and Helsinki's wonderful old port. Its swish contemporary styling will appeal to many, as will the buffet breakfast and paper table mats featuring a map of the city centre and a hilariously useless English-Finnish" translator of phrases such as "Can I scratch your dog?". My only complaint is that it was impossible to open the windows of my room or control/turn off the air conditioning, which remained stubbornly at 23.8 Celsius!
