Nice but hot!

posted May 13, 2012

My mom and I stayed here at the end of February 2012; it's a lovely looking hotel and for the price we paid we were VERY impressed. The room service food is great but a -tad- on the small side for what you pay. The breakfast was AMAZING (if you like Scandinavian style buffets, that is!) but the breakfast room was also very busy so either get there early or late to be guaranteed a place. The only problem we had is that even though the rooms had thermostats, they didn't seem to work. My mother and I both sleep better in cold rooms and the room we were put in stayed at a steady 20 degrees, which was far too warm for our liking. We asked at reception and they were unsure how to work the thermostat and so changed our room - this thermostat also didn't work, leading me to believe that none of them actually work in the entire hotel which was very odd! Our first room was facing the road and quite noisy - when we changed rooms it was the other side of the corridor and blissfully quiet.

Tallinn

We stayed at the hotel 30 April- 1May 2012. Hotel is recommended by TripAdvisor. A tag by the rotating door indicated this. We do share the recommendation. Hotel is situated by the Viru Hotel and shopping center. The Old City and most of the attractions are within walking distance. You have a lot of places to dine and wine and do your shopping. There are many interesting museums and art galleries as well. Hotel is by a busy street but the rooms were quiet. Room 802 was spacy, clean and comfortable. Our room was having a great view to the Old town and the sea. We didn't have any noise from the traffic. Bathroom was big and well equipped. Relax center in 8th floor was nice and much used by the guests. Restaurant was serving a good choise for breakfast. Variety is enough even for a longer stay. Staff in the hotel is friendly and very service minded. When you have seen enough Tallinn you can easily travel to Helsinki, The World Design Capital 2012. From the harbour nearby many ferries are frequently coming and going to Helsinki. You just hop in and max 2 1/2 hrs you will be in Helsinki, the Sister capital of Tallinn. If you come from far away it's practical to visit both, get two birds with one stone.

A Winter weekend break

Tallinn is a small city and the forum although on the outer area is still within walking distance of the sights. there is a nice Vapiano restuarant nearby and the old town has lots of good places to eat. The rooms were quiet and clean and tidy, we did not see the gym as it was closed for repairs .

Amazing hotel! Stay here!

Stayed here with my boyfriend in August and was so impressed with the location, the staff and the room! Breakfast was great - some authentic Baltic food was on offer which I loved. Haven't one bad word to say about the whole stay - would definitely recommend it!

A good hotel but not perfect!

This is obviously a an upmarket hotel and the rooms are modern, bright and attractive. The location is superb - just a stone's throw from the old town and all the main sites and attractions are within comfortable walking distance. The breakfast choice is extensive but became monotonous during a 4 night stay. A plea to hotels - please try to vary the breakfast menu a little for those staying longer than 1 or 2 nights. The hotel is air-conditioned and one cannot open the windows. This means that one is subjected to continuous reycled air. The temperature thermostat in the room was odd in that some parts of the room were cold while others were stiflingly hot! The hotel is overrun by Finns at weekends some of whom are drunken and badly behaved! We were awoken at 4.00 am by a drunk Finn in the corridor urinating against our door!!! The hotel staff were sympathetic when alerted to this and arranged for the mess to be cleared up.
