Superb

Stayed here for two nights in March 2012. Hotel is in an excellent location - about ten minutes walk from the main attractions in Prague. Yes, the trams outside are a little noisy but such noise has to be expected when staying in a city centre hotel. We had a room on a high floor and as such, could not hear anything. I had booked the hotel as my husband and I are Art Deco/Nouveau fans. We took plenty of photos - the hotel is immaculate. The staff were polite and helpful - check in was easy and we were able to have our room immediately when we arrived at 10am. Our room was on a high floor and huge. Separate sitting area and plenty of wardrobe space. The bathroom was marble and luxurious. Room was spotlessly clean. Breakfast is busy but there was enough choice and space for everyone. The restaurant is also beautiful and well worthy of getting the camera out. We ate dinner there on our first night and it was the best meal of our trip. It wasn't the cheapest but the food was fantastic and the service exceptional. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again should I return to Prague.

Good but think I would look elsewhere

I think this hotel gets tired of being asked if you can go to a higher floor to get away from the noise. We weren't even the first in the queue to ask but by the time it came to us we were sent to the top floor. As such we didn't get a view besides the skylight view of ...the sky! We are aware you wouldn't see a great deal in many rooms but that coupled with the smaller feel to the room made it feel more cramped that luxurious. There was no bath but we decided to stay as the room was still nice. Breakfast was fine and they served very nice coffee with a smile. There were just elements that missed the mark. There was a bar but it was so quiet that whilst having a few drinks and trying to relax it felt that everyone would just listen to your conversation as there was only a few tables. We didn't try out the pool so no comment there. Can't deny it was beautifully decorated, very good proximity to the centre and a great place to hang your head for the night but I think it is a bit of personal taste on this one. I loved watching the trams go by in the beautiful dining area over breakfast but the bedroom was too small and I think as we are quite young and overly polite we were put in a room which was kind of what we asked for but they saved some of the others for those who would more forcefully complain. The lack of communal space added to the cramped feeling and as there weren't many other young couples there the atmosphere wasn't inviting. If Art deco is the biggest sell for you as a hotel theme then this is ideal.

Only for Art Deco lovers

As the review of MikeFrequTravel says, you MUST be a lover of Art Deco hotels and be prepared to accept disadvantages such as the tramwys rattling past your room at 4.45 a.m. (unless you got a room towards the rear). It's fairly busy and noisy in the lobby and at breakfast. The staff try hard but I feel there must be better hotels in Prague. I guess I would try the Hotel Pariz next time which is also Art Deco (as is everything in Prague) but not on such a busy road.

A real Art Nouveau gem - This is a truly fantastic hotel

Stayed here after getting work to agree to me paying the difference between that and a bog standard hotel as I wanted to spend a few extra days in Prague. Lovely Art Nouveau building, with incredibly preserved original (or well restored) features – I took masses of pictures of the interior statues, mouldings, corridors etc, even the taps in the bathrooms – worth the hotel putting something together for guests, as it felt very much like a lived in V&A or a throwback to those twenties films and books with glam people heading off on a journey on the Orient Express. The beds were comfy and the set up of the rooms were such that I have to admit waking up and feeling as though I was transported back to an era with hot and cold running servants. The restaurant is lovely and again worth whipping the camera out for. Had great breakfasts (lots of variety buffet style and some made to order stuff) there, and (to my mind) an overpriced dinner one night. The sauna was a good way to wind down, didn’t use the gym but would say it loked fairly decent. Good location (shopping centre, restaurants etc v close by) and transport links – good base to walk round the main sites. I would say Prague is very easy city to walk and explore with this as your base. Very helpful staff, and unlike most customer facing people in Prague notable for willingness to assist and their politeness. One downside, only English speaking channel was a news one, although French, Spanish& German speakers had more than one to choose from. Would stay again in a heartbeat – excellent for business and certainly as a place if you want to absolutely feel that you’ve taken the time to treat yourself.

Journey into the past

Stayed in this hotel twice in may 2012 during a business trip. It really is a classical Art Deco Hotel. Therefore please do not expect modern standards and amenities. This hotel is more like one of the old-fashioned Grand Hotels. The interior of the old lobby and the restaurant are worth a closer look. Rooms are spacious and especially in the bathrooms you will find lots of these nice Art Deco details. Staff especially at and around the reception desk is very polite and helpful. Service in the restaurant is sometimes a straight forward. Breakfast buffet is nice and includes an omelett station. The location is perfect, because the old town center of Prague is in walking distance (3-5 minutes) to the hotel. Next to the hotel you find some restaurants, serving local food and beer. Would stay there again.
