Stayed in mid 2011. Nice rooms, great service, great helpful concierge staff. Cute swimming pool. Expensive bar. Comparing it to the quality of other hotels in the area that are half the price - it just doesn't earn what its asking in $$$ value. As an alternative to the over-priced bar and restaurant, trot 20 metres down the road to the entrance to the nearest hutong, where you'll find a couple of tiny local joints selling beer at one tenth the price, little buns and bowls of veges for a few yuans.

After travelling to China for over 5 years and staying at some very good hotels, even where staff don't speak english yet provide exceptional service, this was a dissappointment. This was my first time in Beijing, and i was not there for business. The room was old, very tired, small and noisy, its window opened to the inside of the lobby. Bathroom was adequate, again, nothing special, definitely not worth what i am used to in China (however, this is what you get living in Biejing and a touristy hotel) - i have to say my experience with similar hotels in Shanghai has been remarkably different. You can walk to some of the attractions, though it is a fair walk, and depending on the weather you may not enjot it. The hotel resturaunt was hosting some kind of german cusine night, and i thought it might be worth while trying it, however it was not great. Travel desk staff was fairly helpful.

Excellent staff, very helpful. The hotel arranged a driver for us for the day who took us to 4 tourist attractions, this was approx. 100 UK pounds for 2 and we thought this was good value. The driver was charming and friendly as were all the hotel staff. Hotel comfortable and clean. We had no complaints and enjoyed our stay. Within walking distance to Tiananmen Square

One star for value. One star for being clean. Half a star for trying to be a high-end hotel, but does not succeed. No free internet, the first room, there was no internet at all. Second room charged for use of the desktop computer. It is not close to attractions. It is six long blocks to the shopping area. The rooms are getting a little rundown. It needs some re-investment. Lobby area does not have seating, so if you are going to meet someone, go to the bar area. Free water is only the blue cap bottles, there should be two, one in the bathroom and one by the bed. Do not need converters, since they have U.S. style plugs. If you get a good deal and don't mind the walk, it is a fair place to stay, but would rather be closer to the main wangfujing strip.
