I have been using this lovely hotel since the 1980s so I have a great fondness for it. Location is fantastic - a couple of minutes walk to subway line 1, silk market, remnants of local hutongs; a longer stroll up along Chang An to Ritan Park, and backstreets teeming with cafes, restaurants, bars; and a 5 minute stroll to a handy supermarket in the basement of Guomao if you're craving for bread, milk, cheese, baked beans, cereal etc. Jianguo Hotel service is always professional and helpful. Sadly the rooms while having been "renewed" syill remain a little tired. The bathrooms really need to be cleaned regularly with bleach or some equivalent natural cleaner to remove endemic mould in the bath/shower/shower curtain etc. This shouldn't be too expensive a problem to solve. The airconditioner in the room is very dirty and dusty - on investigation into the airconditioner in our room I discovered its filter it was clogged with dust, hair, remnants of fibres etc etc. This is a matter of basic regular maintenance and hygiene. In fact, given the air pollution problems in Beijing, the hotel should invest in a new air conditioner and filtration system. Perhaps in the next capital works budget? In spite of all these complaints, this is a lovely hotel if you intend spending a few days in Beijing. And the service staff are always extremely helpful, kind and professional. So congratulations to the staff. So i am rating this hotel on the basis of staff performance, rather than on the maintenance and servicing of the buildings/rooms and facilities (I give this and "average").

We visited Beijing Jianguo Hotel during December 2011, and we experienced "very bad service" from some of their staff (Housekeeping and Gym). We then complained to the hotel Housekeeping Manager, and he encouraged me to complain to the hotel General Manager. We tried contacting the G.M. but was always given excuses "he's not around". Then, the G.M.'s secretary contacted us to convey their G.M.'s apologies. At the same time, they pushed the responsibility to us, and they did not accept responsibility for their staff's actions. This hotel has nice ambience but terrible service and attitude, even from some management staff.

I've stayed here twice on business in the last two years. Great location, good-sized rooms, helpful staff. The hotel is popular with non-Asian customers. Breakfast is decent but I'd avoid the overpriced buffet dinner. I'll probably be back in Beijing later this year and plan to stay here again.

I stayed here a whole week in march, regular room with breakfast. My room had just one window, but you couldn't see outside because it was obscured (it faced the roof above the dining area, so yeah, not a pretty view..). This bothered me a bit, cause I like to see outside. Room is very basic, a bit dated and should be better maintained. Could also have been cleaned with more attention (it took them almost a week to wipe properly a water mark on the floor..). Bed was ok, but they never changed the sheets, also quite unusual in a hotel.. After 3 days they just left out the night turn down, I didn't complain, because I didn't care. It is quite noisy, you hear pretty much everything, from the other rooms, the corridor and especially the pipes (they literally CRY). Breakfast was ok. They had a bit of everything. Western style food was of average quality. WIFI is available in the lobby, cable connection in the room, both really slow! The staff was nice and friendly. Location is very convenient: subway very close, silk street (fake market), couple of restaurants and starbucks. Seems to be very popular, has been there forever, many groups (also children). I think you can stay in newer and cooler hotels in Beijing for the same price. So, I do not think that I will go back there.
