W e stayed at the Kummer last November, during the Thanksgiving break at American schools. It was as close to perfect for a hotel of its class as its possible to get. We arrived around 9:00 AM after a very bad overnight train ride. When we asked to drop our bags until normal check-in, the young lady at the desk immediately registered us for a room and told us to have breakfast at their buffet. That level of friendliness and interest in us continued for our three days in Vienna. The hotel is in one of those pretty old buildings, but has been beautifully modernized and decorated on the inside. The location is wonderful, halfway between the western train station, where most trains from western Europe arrive, and the Hofburg Palace on the edge of the old city center. As a bonuis, there is even a subway station just in front of the hotel. I don't know if we would even consider another hotel in Vienna after our experience here.

Stayed with my wife at the Kummer Hotel in late April 2012. Excellent staff on the counter and great decor. The Breakfast is very generous and the rooms are great. The manager goes out of his way to speak to guest personally. The U Bahn is just across the main door. Waliking to Stephans Platz is just 15 minutes away.I will definitely stay again at this Hotel the next time I am in Vienna. Richard. Malta

Just back from a four night short break in Vienna, staying at the Hotel Kummer. I am pleased with all aspects of the stay. Our twin room was more like a junior suite, with separate sitting and dressing areas, and a clean, modern shower room. Twin in Austria, I now realise, means two single mattresses with separate bedding in the one frame. Very comfortable, if slightly disconcerting. Furniture was of a classic style rather than ultra-modern, fine for our purposes but not for those wanting uniqueness and distinction. Plenty of space for two of us, who each like a lot of space to ourselves. We overlooked a street adjoining the Mariahilfer Strasse, some noise with windows open, but nothing unbearable and nothing intrusive from adjoining rooms either. Very pleased with standard of cleaning. Breakfast buffet surpassed expectations, range of hot & cold foods constantly replenished. I loved the selection of breads and rolls, and even as a vegetarian enjoyed the range of food available. Staff all polite & helpful. Location was very convenient, being right on a U3 underground station, although the historical city centre was a 20 minute amble away. Mariahilfer Strasse was rather like Oxford Street in London - chainstores, gift shops, buskers.

We stayed four nights immediately after Easter at the long established Hotel Kummer. The location suited us very well as it was directly above an underground train station for our arrival with cases, and a pleasant walk to the museum quarter. The reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is a non-smoking hotel which suited us perfectly. The bedroom was of large dimensions due in part to the sense of space from the high ceiling. The bathroom was spacious with a modern heated towel-rack. The only issue (solved with a towel) was the screen over the bath that leaked onto the floor when taking a shower. We had a room above the busy shopping street below, but the high quality double windows removed noise problems. However, as we were reluctant to open the window (due to noise) and were unable to alter the older style heating, we found the room to be a little too warm during the night. The breakfast was of a high standard, delicious and great variety. A suggested improvement would be to offer guests free wi-fi.
