Great hotel, poor staff

posted April 29, 2012

We stayed here for 2 nights and when we arrived we didn't get the room I had booked (it was large and very nice, but as it was my Girlfriends birthday, I booked the best executive room that isn't a suite) The two people at reception at reception were rude and basically said I had been given the room I had booked. After some debate, we were finally given the room I had paid for, which was huge and very comfortable, 20ft+ ceilings,4 waist height to ceiling windows along a 25ft wall, lounge chairs and sofa, flatscreen that rotates from the bed to the lounge area, dressing room between bathroom and bedroom, and the bed was enormous. pure luxury! The breakfasts were very good with a nice selection of breads, meats, cheeses and cereals, juices and fruit etc etc. Immediately opposite a large train station, and tram stops nearby. City attractions can be reached on foot in 10 mins and plenty to see and do. A great hotel but rude staff.

Well-priced for Vienna

A good-value (indeed, for Vienna, excellent value) hotel on a side street to the Franz-Josef S-bahn station. The hotel appears to be going through a refurbishment, judging from other reviews on thsi site. My room on the 2nd floor was a larger corner room, with plenty of space, 2 arm chairs and a coffee table, work desk, wardrobe with safe, and OK lighting. The room was cold, though: radiators behind heavy curtains struggled to make much of a difference to the temperature, and the separate aircon system didn't want to know. Traffic noise from the street was noticeable. The shower room wasn't massive but was clean, as is the remainder of the hotel visible to me. The lifts offer a bit of character and though older, are perfectly safe - at odds with another reviewers comments. The restaurant offers somwehat uninspired food and breakfasts are adequate but nothing to differentiate from any other hotel. In summary, a bargain hotel with some drawbacks but, on the whole, recommended.

Good value and nice location!

The hotel is located in a nice spot, close to the Franz Joseph Railway station. The closest subway station is Friedensbrucke (ca 3-5 minutes walk). There is a supermarket just opposite the hotel entrance (open until 9 PM), McDonalds and a few cafes/restaurants (I can recommend the Japanese Akakiko - they serve fantastic food). The hotel is pretty old and the rooms look a bit "tired", but it's tidy and clean and the staff is really helpful. We asked for the late check-out and it worked out just fine. If You are in a hurry, express breakfast is a good way to go. For a bit over 5€ You get a big coffee and a sandwich. As for going to the airport, especially if You have lots of luggage, just take a taxi (fixed rate of 34€).

terrible but ...........

I have stayed at the Bellevue hotel Vienna from 7-10th april for three nights with my parents and my daughter. First when we have checked in the hotel the reception and porter was but funny but friendly way. the hotel room is small like 2-3 star hotel rooms compare with what the hotel says on the web site. If you are planning to stay please bring your own kettle or thermos to have a hot water in the room.because there is not in the room even when you ask for water in the hotel there is a not enough jug or kettle. even you ended up having trip to restaurant few times just because you want some water. I thought ok room is fine for few days. then last night of our staying i have decided to take my parents to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. The menu was ok nothing to get exited but the worst thing was .............we ended up having a microvaved meat with ice frozen garnish and vegetable. then i complained to the waitress lady then she said........so what if it is cold it is cold ........ also she said that i was complaining a lot and she said why I did not stay in differenet hotel if i am not happy with the food and service. Even i have felt little racial issue here from behaviour of the waitress and staff. I do not understand such a nice hotel located in great area in Vienna could not provide decent food and dinner and also just siple service that customer would require. after all i wont stay here again and i am not happy.

Value and convenient location in Vienna

Although old, this hotel presents itself very well. Our deluxe room was large, very clean with very comfortable beds. The bathroom was small but modern. The staff was courteous, helpful and all spoke English. Although outside the ring, it is half a block from Tram D which takes you to all the attractions including the ring. The breakfast was very good but may be pricey at 15.5E. We stayed an extra night and would stay there again.
