My friend booked a two bedroom apartment for my Hen's night at the Astral Residences. The hotel has pretty poor service. The staff at the desk are not very helpful. Example: No one chose to tell us about which lift to take to our room, we accidentally went up the lifts to the Astral Towers. No one really explained the parking situation (there was a gas leak and we could not use the valet parking). Aside from their questionable customer service skills, The Astral Residences is a very nice apartment hotel. The corridors of the hotel looks retro, but the rooms are very modern and spacious. Our room was on the 16th floor. The bedrooms were very spacious and clean. The ensuite had a television and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean. The other bedroom was a decent size too. The kitchen was great, there were all the kitchen necessities. The room also had a nice balcony too. The view was quite spectacular. The room also had laundry facilities too. Overall good hotel.

I booked this as a mystery hotel, and wasn't disappointed. The place is HUGE, and it buzzes all day with it being a casino, even to get to the restaurant you have to go past gaming tables and slot machines. The buffet breakfast was included, and was brilliant, the choice was fabulous, food to tickle all tastebuds. The evening buffet too was great and varied. One crib was that we had to pay for WiFi, and it wasn't particularly cheap. But apart from that, the location was good, a short walk from Darling Harbour, the Monorail and a bus stop where the hop-on-hop-off bus stopped.

I stayed in the three bedroom apartment and I loved it. It was spacious and clean and the view was great. The kitchen was perfect for cooking while on vacation and had enough dishes and tools to entertain my HUGE Filipino family who were all in Sydney as well. I also liked the large living room and dining room area and the washer/dryer that makes traveling so convenient! My favorite part was the gym. It was so clean and well equipped with everything I needed. One wall is entirely glass which looks over the water so if you go right before sunrise it makes working out MUCH easier! It is in a great location because you can see so many places just by walking around. The concierge was more than helpful giving me maps and directions around the city. The ONLY downside was that the wifi was a little expensive, but that's minor.

We are actually still at the hotel and checking out this morning but are so frustrated with the noise from building work that I wanted to write this review while still motivated to do so. The location is great and the rooms are a good size and well furnished. Room cleaning is average at best - paper that had dropped between the bed and a chair was just left where it was and used coffee cups not removed, replaced or washed, I had to do that myself. But its the noise from the building works within the hotel that is most annoying. I have been here 3 nights - on the first two mornings hammering and drilling started before 7am but this morning, they started at just after 5.30am! I called reception who told me works weren't due to start till 'later' but they said they would speak to their manager. The drilling stopped after a while but the hammering continued, and then it all started up again at 7am. We were not advised of building works either on booking or check-in, but either way, it is absolutely unreasonable for this to happen at a hotel whose main purpose is to provide a place to sleep!
