WORLDHOTELS committed to support Malaria No More Deutschland e.V.
The mission of the non-profit organisation is simple: to end Malaria related deaths. Each year, more than three million people die of this disease and its consequences. Nearly 90 percent of these deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa, with over 75 percent being children under the age of five.
“As an international hotel group we are especially aware of this world wide health threat. We have decided to support Malaria No More Deutschland e.V. in order to help fighting against Malaria. Our contribution will be used for prevention and information and will therefore make a difference for the individuals affected”, says Michael Ball, CEO of WORLDHOTELS.
WORLDHOTELS is particularly supporting a campaign for the Congo, a country with one of the highest estimated infection rates. In cooperation with the Red Cross, Malaria No More Deutschland e.V. is implementing an initiative in the region of Kindu. As a result of this project, the Malaria cases could already be reduced by 35 percent within six months. The WORLDHOTELS funds will be used to buy impregnated mosquito nets and will be a further step to keep the infection rates as low as possible.
